Sorry for the delay. Update time!

i must apologize. We have been living and working in Philadelphia.  Our poor Ruby has seen next to none of our time.  Aside from weekend escapes to nj the camp out in the parents backyard.  The only repairs we did last summer was to put an alternator conversion from the generator that came factory.  It was not the toughest but it did take time.  We had to remove the engine and disassemble most of the outer tin.  And then fit the alternator backing plates and fan together and maintain proper angle for the drive belt on the fron end of the alternator.  I hope we did this correctly.  We did purchase a few extra belts just in case.  Also the carbureator linkage hit the new larger alternator.  So Dremel in hand,  I ground out a notch in the alternator.  Then cut the top of the bolt off to allow for clearance.  Afterwards I had to remove the voltage regulator and install the new wiring for the conversion kit.  The next step was putting the engine back in.  Connecting wires and checking my work.  All seemed good,  works awesome and the belt is good!


That literally was all we did.  We had an electrical problem and it caused fuses to blow and brake lights to fail.  So we tried to find that and ran out of time living and camping and hiking and working.
Then winter.....
Then a job fell into our lap.  1974 Vw bus.  It was loved by someone who tried very hard to get her running.  Lynn and I spent quite a bit of time on this bus,  replaced a lot of engine parts, new dual carb setup that I found at a garage sale.  Timing and tuning got her running down the road,  and gave us the break we needed.  We were able to get new wheel bearings,  axles,  shocks, brakes, and tires.  All very necessary for the road.  So we are very grateful to this bus and it's wonderful owners and hope to see them on the road this summer.  That basically brings us to now.  I have yet to install all the new parts except the brakes and tires.  That is this week.  Major repairs and then down the road to chicago and beyond.  Check out the instagram RubyRedBus71.
